ALBAWABA- Hezbollah launched one of its heaviest rocket barrages against northern Israel on Wednesday, firing around 100 rockets from southern Lebanon in a single salvo as fighting intensifies across the region.
Israel’s public broadcaster reported that many of the rockets were aimed at areas in northern Israel, with some striking populated zones. The Israeli military confirmed that air-raid sirens were activated in the northern Galilee and the coastal city of Haifa after the launches from Lebanon.
Hezbollah described the operation as part of its “Islamic Resistance” campaign in support of Iran and Palestinian groups amid the ongoing regional conflict. Israeli authorities reported casualties and damage in several locations, though the full extent of the losses has not yet been confirmed.
The Hezbollah attack coincided with a separate wave of ballistic missile launches from Iran toward Israel. Sirens were also heard in central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, after Israeli defense systems detected incoming missiles, according to Israeli media.
The escalation follows weeks of intensifying hostilities triggered by the U.S.–Israeli military campaign launched in late February targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, and senior leadership. Tehran has since responded with missile and drone strikes against Israel, U.S. bases, and allied targets across the Middle East.
In Lebanon, the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate as Israeli airstrikes expand across the country. The Lebanese government’s Disaster Risk Management Unit said at least 634 people have been killed and 1,586 injured since the widening of Israeli military operations on March 2.
Authorities also reported that the number of displaced people has surged to about 816,700 as civilians flee heavy bombardment in southern Lebanon and other affected areas.
Meanwhile, the United States has reinforced its military presence in the region, warning Iran and its allied groups against further escalation while pledging continued support for Israel’s defense.
