H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Ramadan Karting Championship

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Ramadan Karting Championship final round saw the four champions from the four group categories crowned for 2005 at the Kartdrome circuit of the Dubai Autodrome. This championship attracted race enthusiasts from all over the UAE with more than 75 competitors.

The exciting Ramadan Karting Championship ended on a high note. After the thrilling consecutive qualifying rounds on Thursdays during Ramadan, drivers from four different categories competed to race in the Final on the second day of Eid. 

Showing skills and new talents emerging, only the 4 fastest drivers among the 75 participants stepped to the final podium of the Kartdrome to be crowned champions and to receive their prizes and trophies.

Overall winners in the final race were:
Kids: 1st place: Thomas Bayle, 2nd place: Cael Morrison, 3rd place: Cedric Dreyer
Cadets: 1st place: Scott Reid, 2nd place: Dennis Schneider, 3rd place: Tamer Azzam
Juniors: 1st place: Ramez Azzam, 2nd place: Grant Cheesewright, 3rd place: Steven Wyborn
Adults: 1st place: Rami Azzam, 2nd place: Mohammed Haider, 3rd place: Bernard Nawfal

Overall fastest lap: Ramez Azzam (1:11.813)

Prizes included cash and training sessions for all categories which is being offered under the supervision of ex-world Karting champion, and manager of the Kartdrome, David Terrien. This is in addition to the free participation for two teams from the adults category (local and expatriate teams) in the Nivea For Men 24 hours race, which will be held on November 24-25, 2005.

Newly crowned adult champion, Rami Azzam, said: “I would like to thank HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Dubai Autodrome for creating this unique sporting competition which brought together all aspiring drivers from across the country to compete in this thrilling championship. The racing was close and tough but cleanly fought and fun to compete. I look forward to retaining my title in 2006.”

The Ramadan Karting Championship was created to fulfill the potential of regular karters and to attract new talent. The Autodrome is striving to develop talented karters, in order to propel them into higher echelons of motorsport.
