High Level Delegation from Muscat Municipality visits Tabreed
Sultanate of Oman plans to adopt latest cooling technologies
A high-level delegation from Muscat Municipality concluded a two day visit to Tabreed – the world’s largest district cooling company. The delegation reviewed technical operations of various plants as well as various projects being developed by the company.
The delegation included: H.E. Abdulla bin Abbas bin Ahmed - Head of Muscat Municipality, Abdul Hakim Ahmed Al Farisi, Sultan bin Awadh Al Belushi, a number of experts and technical specialists from Muscat Municipality and were accompanied by Edward McNally, CEO of Tabreed Oman’ and Musallam Al Hadefi, Business Development Manager, Tabreed Oman.
"This visit comes under the Sultanate of Oman approach to obtain environment friendly technologies that help conserve energy as its growing rapidly among all sectors ", Said H. E. Abdulla bin Abbas bin Ahmed, "District cooling, which offers 40% energy savings over conventional cooling methods, is therefore the ideal solution for our needs"
The delegation toured the Bainounah plant in Abu Dhabi followed by a short visit to the Energy Transfer Station (ETS), where they were briefed on the technical operations of district cooling plants. Subsequently, they were taken through the processes of the construction of cooling plants.
"Tabreed pioneered the use of district cooling in the Middle East in 1998 and since then we have undertaken projects in various other countries in the Middle East including all GCC nations as well as Jordan in the Levant,” said Karl Marietta, Deputy CEO of the company.
"As the founding members of the regional chapter of the Internal District Energy Association – the global industry body, we want to promote the use of environmentally-friendly district cooling technology. We also want to share the rich expertise we have gained through supplying cooling to projects in diverse sectors including retail, hospitality, healthcare as well as commercial and residential development.” he added
Tabreed Oman was launched early this year as a joint venture between Tabreed and a consortium of local partners including Diwan, ISS, MOD pension funds, PMA International and the Private Project Development Company, will employ its innovative and cutting edge technology to ensure efficient solutions for cooling residential, commercial and industrial buildings in the Omani market.
