high-level wta delegation from south korea visit techno park officials to discuss collaboration
A high-level delegation from World Technopolis Association (WTA) from South Korea met Techno Park officials in Dubai last week to know more about Economic Zones World’s science and technology facilitator, and to discuss mutually beneficial collaboration for the future between UNESCO, WTA and Techno Park.
The delegation, comprising WTA Secretary General Deong-Seong Oh, Director Unesco-WTA Center for Science City Governance, Prof. Byung-Joo Kang, and WTA Director Tae-Ho La met Mr. Hamad al Hashemi, Managing Director Techno Park, and other Economic Zones World officials.
Techno Park, which is a member of the World Technopolis Association, gave the visitors a detailed briefing on Techno Park, its facilities and future, while officials of the Business Development Department briefed them on the scope and working and the latest projects of Economic Zones World, Techno Park’s holding company.
According to Mr. Hamad Al Hashemi, “We are proud to be part of the World Techno polis Association, whose aim of promoting development and sharing prosperity through exchanges and cooperation among science cities, is something close to our vision of Techno Park.”
“Joining WTA enables us to link shared research results in advanced scientific fields to industry, eventually facilitating local economic growth, and at the same time, promote the cause of science and technology with the help of fellow member cities,” Al Hashemi added.
According to Deong–Seong Oh, WTA Secretary General , “The World Technopolis Association (WTA), is a multilateral international organization created with aims to connect the advancement of science and technology with local development, to achieve a shared development through cooperation and exchanges among science cities.
”As an international organization whose members are mainly local governments, the WTA is planning to launch variety of programs for the promoting of the regional development of the member cities as well as other science cities around the world.”
The WTA officials were briefed on Techno Park’s revised master plan, and explained the role the science and technology park and its sister EZW companies have played in the growth and development of Dubai.
On their part, the WTA officials briefed the Techno Park and EZW officials on the working of the WTA and, its future plans.
