A high-ranking Israeli officer will be tried for sexually harassing an officer and two soldiers, reported Haaretz newspaper.
“Brigadier General Yair Naveh, commander of the IDF in Gaza, will be tried for sexual harassing an officer and two soldiers,” the Military Advocate General, Brigadier General Menachem Finkelstein decided Wednesday.
The officer, who was Navheh’s office director, filed a complaint two months ago that Naveh had touched her lower body, said the paper, adding that two other soldiers, who serve in Naveh’s office, complained that he used inappropriate language in their presence.
Naveh did not deny the events, but claimed his actions had no sexual intentions, said the paper.
He did not intend to hurt anyone and he was only trying to enforce discipline, he claimed.
Naveh made headlines recently when he commented on an Israeli incursion into Gaza, saying that the occupation troops would remain in the PA-controlled areas for "several months."
The army reprimanded Naveh, saying he was not speaking within his authority. But his remarks led to an unusually angry reaction from the US that finally led to a pullout – Albawaba.com
