Senior Advocate General Yousef Al-Mutawa says every effort will be made
to make it a world-class event
The Higher Organizing Committee of the 6th International Association of Prosecutors Middle East & Asia-Pacific Region Regional Conference met on recently to review final preparations for the event, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai November 14-16, under the theme of ‘Public Prosecution in the 21st Century’.
H.E. Yousef Hassan Al-Mutawa, Senior Advocate General, Public Prosecution – Dubai, and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee, presided over the meeting which reviewed all measures taken so far to ensure the event will be a world-class event that reflects Dubai’s prestigious position as an international destination for major conferences.
Mr Al-Mutawa said: “Dubai is always keen on excelling in staging such international events. We have taken steps to build on the success of earlier IAP conferences to make sure everything goes according to plan and conforms to our world-class standards.”
The Higher Organizing Committee approved the formation of several new committees, such as the scientific committee headed by Dubai's Advocate General Khalifa bin Deemas, the reception committee headed by Advocate Ismael Ali Madani and the marketing production committee headed by Fahmi Ibrahim.
The meeting was attended by members of the Higher Organizing Committee, including Vice-Chairman Khalifa bin Deemas, Advocate Ali Hameed bin Khatem, Advocate Sami Salem Al Shamsi, Advocate Ismael Ali Madani, Yousef Ahmed bin Ghalita, Baqer Abdulwahed Abdulla, Tareq Ibrahim Al Qasim, and Mustafa Abdulrahman Shaheen, in addition to Fahmi Ibrahim Abdulhadi, internal coordinator, and Iyad Sabri Abufarha, rapporteur and external coordinator.
Members discussed measures initiated so far, including the media campaign and the launch of a dedicated website for the 6th IAP Middle East & Asia Pacific Regional Conference. The website has already received a considerable number of participation requests and requests to conduct presentations, which will be selected on the basis of their relevance to the conference theme of ‘Public Prosecution in the 21st Century’.
Public Prosecution - Dubai recently launched the website (www.dppevents.com and www.dppevents.ae) in Arabic and English to provide conference details and to enable participants to register online. Details on conference programme, case studies, academic background of participants, in addition to press releases and advertisements from concerned parties are available on it.
The conference has attracted considerable interest among legal communities in the region. The three-day event will take place at the Atlantis and ‘The Address’ hotels, and will discuss the use of Information Technology in the prosecution process, and Risk Management, among other top priority issues that concern prosecutors in modern days.
The IAP, established in 1995 as a non-governmental, non-political organisation, is a global community of prosecutors committed to setting and raising standards of professional conduct and ethics for prosecutors worldwide.
Its mission is to be a world authority for prosecutors in the conduct of criminal prosecutions and associated matters, and to operate as an organisation of international repute and referral.
