It is estimated that more than 125 million people worldwide suffer from psoriasis and each year, more than 200,000 additional people get the disease. Equally affecting both sexes, psoriasis can appear at any age, although it usually strikes for the first time between the ages of 15 and 25. If left untreated, large areas of psoriasis can lead to infection, fluid loss, and poor blood circulation. Further studies have also shown that around 30% of people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis, a crippling disease of the joints and the bones.
Between October 29 and November 4, in conjunction with World Psoriasis Day, Dr Batra’s, the prestigious Homeopathic clinic at Dubai Healthcare City will offer a week-long programme of free consultations for psoriasis patients or for families with loved ones affected by the debilitating condition. In addition, the clinic will offer a DHS100 discount for on-the-spot registrations for annual treatment plans.
“Psoriasis is a recurring chronic condition that can be difficult to treat. It is essentially an autoimmune disorder, which has no definitive cause. However, stress, both physical and psychological, is known to aggravate the condition. As such those suffering from psoriasis experience further stress and depression and thus get into a vicious cycle” said Dr Mukesh Batra, Founder & CMD, Dr. Batra’s.
“Homeopathy, which is a form of alternative medicine that is natural and side-effects free, has been proven to effectively treat psoriasis. In our clinics alone, we have successfully treated over 25,000 psoriasis cases. Psoriasis is especially responsive to Homeopathy because homeopathic medicines, being subtle bioenergetic preparations, work towards correcting the deranged immunity. Being a holistic science, Homeopathy not only relieves the patient's physical discomfort but also puts the patient at ease mentally”, added Dr Batra.
Research has proved that Homeopathy effectively treats psoriasis. A 3-year clinical study in England revealed that 97% of psoriasis patients who were treated with Homeopathy showed a marked improvement in their condition. In another study in Germany, it was observed that in 81.1% of the patients treated through homeopathy had their symptoms improve or disappear altogether.
Ointments and creams can, at best, help to suppress or reduce inflammation temporarily. The long-term impact of immuno-suppressant medications is still not clear. Some of these drugs also carry the risk of triggering additional complications like skin cancers, lymphoma and liver disease.
“It is important for psoriasis patients to understand that while one sees visible improvement in the first few months itself, the full course of treatment could take a few years. During the week long programme for World Psoriasis Day, our clinic will be accessible to all those suffering from the condition. We want to offer psoriasis patients in the UAE an opportunity to better understand the condition and to learn how homeopathy can help them cope with and eventually cure it”, added Dr Batra.
Dr Batra's® unparalleled experience aids its doctors in the early and accurate diagnosis of the different types of psoriasis. Being the only institution whose homeopaths are specifically trained by MD Dermatologists, combined medical knowledge of both streams is used in the treatment of such cases. Thus, where there is hope and Homeopathy, freedom from psoriasis can be a reality.
