ALBAWABA - A powerful 7.4‑magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia on April 2, in the Molucca Sea, off Ternate in North Maluku.
At least one person was killed in the Indonesian earthquake, which damaged buildings and briefly triggered a tsunami warning.
National rescue and disaster agencies revealed that the 7.4‑magnitude earthquake damaged houses and public buildings. Videos showing the moment of the strong quake and buildings shaking were shared on social media. In addition, some people posted clips from affected areas showing flattened structures and frightened residents gathering in the streets.
The quake was felt as well in Ternate, Bitung and Manado, which ordered evacuations and called people to stay away from weakened buildings and low‑lying coastal areas.
