ALBAWABA - The Thai government has warned of hot weather and extreme heatwaves in the region and confirmed that heatstroke has already killed 30 people since the start of 2024.
According to AFP, millions of people across South and Southeast Asia are experiencing harsh hot weather this week leading schools in the Philippines to approve distance learning until the heatwave is done.
Moreover, not only in Asia, but Nepal also released health warnings and placed hospitals on high alert on Thursday amid increasing temperatures.
It is known that climate change is the main reason behind the heat waves and caused their presence to be more frequent and more intense.
The United Nations revealed in a report this week that Asia was the number one region to get affected by climate and weather hazards in 2023, "with floods and storms the chief causes of casualties and economic losses," AFP added.
