The move comes in response to Israel's blockade on Gaza, despite a ceasefire deal with Hamas that was meant to facilitate aid deliveries.

ALBAWABA- Houthi military spokesperson General Yahya Saree announced on X that the group will resume attacks on vessels heading to Israel in the Red and Arab Seas.

The move comes in response to Israel's blockade on Gaza, despite a ceasefire deal with Hamas that was meant to facilitate aid deliveries.

Saree stated that the deadline set by Houthi leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi for mediators to pressure Israel into reopening crossings and allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza had expired.

As a result, the Houthis will enforce a renewed ban on Israeli-linked ships in their declared operational zone.

The Houthis had previously halted their naval operations following the Hamas-Israel ceasefire in January.

Their attacks on maritime routes began in November 2023 after Hamas launched the October 7 Al-Aqsa Flood operation, targeting dozens of vessels bound for Israel.
