Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications solutions, today predicted the commercial deployment of LTE in 2010 across the Middle East, in addition to Western Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and North America at GSM>3G Middle East, a leading communications conference and exhibition in Dubai.

“Huawei is one of the first vendors to provide commercial LTE networks to operators. We predict that LTE will reach the Middle East in 2010, alongside other mature telecommunications markets across the world,” said Mr. Ihab Ghattas, Assistant President, Middle East Region at Huawei Technologies. “We foresee a smooth evolution of GSM/UMTS to LTE, which account for over 85 percent of mobile users worldwide today.”

Thanks to Huawei's 4th Generation Base Station platform, the Huawei LTE solution provides an All-IP, high speed, low latency and high frequency efficiency mobile network. LTE technology will deliver new mobile data rates, which will enable telecommunication operators to introduce the fastest mobile broadband experience to their customers, with a download speed of over 100Mbps for a single user. In the future, LTE will help to reduce expenses in operation considerably as compared to other existing technologies and smoothly evolve to next-generation networks with little further investment, paving the way for additional revenues to be triggered from new applications, better QoS and larger capacity.

LTE, the last step toward the 4th generation (4G) of radio technologies, is designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone networks. By adopting the LTE MIMO and OFDM technologies (Multiple Input Multiple Output and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex, key radio technologies of LTE), the download peak data rate can reach 150 Mbps in one LTE cell with multiple terminals, reaching an upper limit bandwidth of up to 20 Mhz.

"Huawei always focuses on addressing the challenges of operators and the needs of its customers,” added Mr. Ghattas. “With our leading LTE technology, we are confident to provide operators in the Middle East with winning solutions for their businesses and help them provide the fastest mobile broadband experience for their customers."
