Huawei Technologies (“Huawei”), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has showcased its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A, end-to-end commercial solution including DO Rev. A terminal EC360, which enables users to receive/send at a high speed data rate of 3.1 Mbps on the forward link and 1.8 Mbps on the upload/download reverse link.

Rev. A is the most advanced mobile wireless technology on the market and allows operators to provide integrated voice, data and video services, at a lower cost and across multiple networks. Huawei’s CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev.A is a commercial solution which provides operators with a high-performance and profitable full-service platform, supporting services such as VoIP, wireless broadband access, and streaming media. The service flow-based mechanism of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A solution, allows distinguished dispatching for voice flow, video flow and normal data flow that ensures a high quality subscriber experience with video and telecom services. Huawei’s industry-leading CDMA2000 BTS technologies reduce power consumption by 44 per cent while power amplification efficiency is increased up to 33 per cent.

“High-speed data access and multiple service provision is becoming a new revenue source for operators,” said Wang Jiading, vice president, Huawei Technologies Middle East and North Africa Operations. “Huawei’s CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A commercial solution advances the network bandwidth, capacity, and the quality of service guarantee while saving customers’ total investment cost.”

According to CDMA Development Group (CDG), Huawei is one of the top three players in the global CDMA market with a 14.5 per cent share and ranks first in the emerging CDMA market share, securing 31 Evolution Data Only (EV-DO) commercial contracts.

Huawei first previewed its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A service at 3G World Congress 2005 in Hong Kong where customers experienced firsthand how the device delivers high speed and large bandwidth. Huawei also set up a video monitoring service experiment on the Shanghai high-speed subway. At mobile speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour, the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A delivered a data rate of 2.4 Mbps on the forward link and 1.6 Mbps on the reverse link.

“Our CDMA products serve 60 Million CDMA subscribers. In 2006, Huawei won a national contract from Leap Wireless, to provide the first all internet protocol based CDMA2000 network in USA. Other notable achievements also include working with CANTV/Movilnet in Venezuela, PBTL in Bangladesh and Starcomms in Nigeria. As the global leader, Huawei will continue to create innovative CDMA technologies to meet customers’ needs and to enable them to create long-term value and potential growth,” said Jiading.

Huawei has devoted extensive resources into CDMA R&D – it has more than 3,000 engineers devoted to this segment and the company holds more than 1,000 patents in CDMA technology.

CDMA2000 is a family of third-generation (3G) mobile telecommunications standards that use CDMA, a multiple access scheme for digital radio, to send voice, data, and signalling data (such as a dialed telephone number) between mobile phones and cell sites. It is the second generation of CDMA digital cellular.

The CDMA2000 standards CDMA2000 1x, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, and CDMA2000 1xEV-DV.
