Huawei to supply UMTS/HSPA network to Morocco Telecom

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (“Huawei”), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions around the world, has announced that Morocco Telecom ("IAM"), the largest integrated telecom operator in Morocco, has selected Huawei as its major supplier for the construction of its nationwide UMTS/HSPA network.

According to the contract, Huawei will help IAM to construct a UMTS/HSPA network as well as an ALL-IP core network based on IP bearer mobile softswitch in their circuit switched (CS) domain. It will be IAM’s first 3G commercial network serving its 2.4 million subscribers.

Huawei’s UMTS/HSPA Node B family of technologies will be used as their wide frequency spectrum allows users from different countries to enjoy seamless mobile broadband services throughout the 3G network in Morocco. DPD + Doherty technologies will be used to help carriers to improve network performance and lub IP transmission solutions will be implemented to help save transmission cost by up to 40%.  The unified 2G/3G core network will also be able evolve to IMS/FMC smoothly.
