Fifty international human rights experts gathered this week in Algeria for a two-day conference on human right protection. The participants focused on three main aspects: The international mechanisms available for protecting human rights; human rights in the age of globalization; and other related topics. The event was arranged by the Algerian Human Rights Supervisory Committee. This was the second such event held within the last month. Participants in the previous event were from the agency that coordinates African institutions for human rights protection. Algeria has recently participated in a convention in Lisbon, Portugal on human rights and presented guidelines for human rights NGOs in Algeria.
