An automated voice coming from a beverage vending machine might pique our curiosity to an extent but when a live human voice comes out of one it's practically unheard of! Such was the scene at Mirdif City Centre mall recently when Tang caused quite the stir with its human vending machine. That's right...a living, breathing and talking vending machine.
Designed to excite consumers as they sampled the new Tang Singles, the human vending machine proved to be a massive hit. Children and adults alike were enamored by how the "live" vending machine simulated its automated counterpart...with the added novelty of live voice instructions.
Replete with a money slot and buttons to pick a flavor, select a stirrer and redeem a complimentary gift, consumers were invited to experience the ease and fun in preparing this iconic beverage in its new single serve format.
The innovative idea to devise a human vending machine was conceived around the new Tang Singles catch phrase, Pick, Stir and Smile, which literally translates into picking a flavor, stirring in the water and smiling because it's that easy!
Consumers were given data cards to fill out. Doubling up as "Tang Currency", they were invited to drop the card into the human vending machine money slot in order to activate it. A voice then invited them to pick one of three variants of Tang Singles by pushing one of the buttons. They were then handed the sachet with a cup of water. The human vending machine then prompted them to select one of three stirring instruments in order to stir their drink. To complete the ritual audiences were asked to select a gift by pushing the smile button.
The Tang Human Vending Machine was the first of its kind in the region. The sampling exercise was conducted in malls around the GCC creating show-stopping buzz, interactivity and fun for all that came across it. The exercise was further complimented by a trio of Mobile Vending Machines comprising three men decked out in the necessary gadgets to interact with consumers and demonstrate the Pick, Stir and Smile ritual of Tang Singles.
