Palestinian President Yasser Arafat Wednesday accepted the credentials of Hungary's first-ever representative to the Palestinian territories, raising the number of foreign countries represented in Gaza to 27.
Arafat welcomed Laszlo Fehervari, who said Hungary would open its diplomatic headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah this week.
"We have always supported Palestinian rights, and our position, in Hungary, is in support of UN resolutions," he told reporters.
The Palestine Liberation Organization first opened an office in Hungary in 1975.
In 1996, Hungary signed an accord for educational and cultural cooperation with the self-rule Palestinian Authority - GAZA CITY (AFP)
