The International Bank of Qatar (IBQ); committed to assist in the rebuilding of Qatar's renowned Doha Players Theatre, has proudly announced that it has become the "platinum" sponsor for the Doha Players Amateur Dramatic Society for the period between May 07 – May 08. Having been a committed "silver" sponsor for the past three years, IBQ felt the necessity to increase its support by further contributing to the re-establishment of one of Qatar's most prominent performing arts & entertainment organisations; the Doha Players.

The sponsorship, which begins in May 2007, will coincide with the Doha Players production of the famous musical "Annie" which will be performed at the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) in the last week of May and the first week in June.

Since its establishment, IBQ has been committed to contributing to the community it belongs to, by offering time, money and effort, in addition to financial skills and expertise for the betterment and welfare of various communities.

"At IBQ we are very strong believers that art and education are key elements of cultural and community development and the Doha Players are renowned for continually providing the community with these key qualities," commented Michael H. Williams, General Manager of IBQ

"We are very proud to be a Platinum Sponsor this year for the Doha Players, an organisation that despite difficult circumstances, over the last two years, has persevered to keep art, music and entertainment embedded in the nation's culture," Williams continued.

For over 50 years the Doha Players have entertained lovers of English-speaking theatre in Qatar, through a variety of shows that include dramatic presentations, musicals, pantomimes and comedies. They have also been offering cabaret evenings, dinner theatre and musical evenings. Despite the unfortunate incident that left the Doha Players without a theatre, in 2005, the members and their supporters are determined to carry on and are in the process of rebuilding a new theatre to host all future plays and events.

The present Chairman of the Doha Players Board, Stuart Walton, expressed his appreciation towards IBQ and commented that, "Our previous theatre was home to the Doha Players for the last 25 years and we look forward to the next 25 years in our new theatre which will become a reality with the generous support of community minded businesses like IBQ "

Considered as Qatar's oldest and fastest growing bank, IBQ has, over the years, showed its dedication and support to education and community activities. By ensuring that important organisations such as the Doha Players are well supported, IBQ continues to give back to the Qatari community.
