One hundred-and-eighty-four Iraqi Kurds have received sentences ranging of one month in prison after being convicted of illegal residence in Lebanon, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

On Thursday, 70 men and 37 women were transferred to the Roumieh and Baabda prisons from Sidon's Serail prison, where they had been held, said the paper.

Fifty-nine children under the age of 12 were held at the Evangelical School in Kahaleh, while another 18 children under the age of three were left with their mothers.

Investigations revealed that the Kurds were planning to reside temporarily in Lebanon before moving on to various European countries, said the paper - Albawaba.com
