The Egyptian Parliament’s Saturday session witnessed an uprising against imported car headrests containing magnetic parts, which some lawmakers alleged were a health threat.
Minister of Provisioning Hasan Khader said that his ministry had discovered large numbers of headrests of unknown origin, and had issued tickets to vendors in the wake of a slew of complaints.
Khader said that 200 headrests had been detected in Tawfikiyyah, Azbakiyyah and Mosky, in addition to large numbers found in Sharkiyyah two days ago.
The minister added that samples had been sent out for analysis and to assess their impact on human health. He said headsets had been sent to many centers, including the National Council for Nuclear Safety, laboratories at the ministries of Health and Agriculture, the Ein Shams Engineering School metals center, and the National Research Center -- Albawaba.com
