This morning (2/11/09), a course titled "Supporters of Fighting Drugs" was opened at the Libraries Department of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), and organized by Drugs Fighting Department and with the cooperation of 35 GAM employees.
The program of the four-day course includes some work papers about the kinds of drugs, causes of spread, dangers, addiction and its symptoms, and preaching of Islam toward Drugs, in addition to the drugs' status in the Kingdom and the role of civil society institutions in the prevention campaigns.
The course's objective is to educate participants about the dangers of drug addiction, methods of fighting it, and the negative impacts on the community from various social, economical and psychological perspectives. It also aims at creating awareness towards the great efforts exerted by the Drugs Fighting Department to stop this fatal practice.
Lieutenant Colonel, Khader 'Al Khattab, reviewed before the participants the kinds of drugs, reasons of spread, and dangers of abuse, explaining the law that governs the drugs issues such as planting, storing and promoting the socially resented and dangerous lesion.
This course reflects the keenness of GAM and Public Security Directorate represented by the Drugs Fighting Directorate to maintain the safety and stability of the society in the face of all the dangers threatening its members.
