ALBAWABA- A series of powerful explosions were reported late Tuesday near Muzaffarabad in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

India announced the launch of "Operation Sindoor," claiming it targeted nine sites linked to what it described as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, while emphasizing that no Pakistani military installations were struck. The Indian Army tweeted “Justice is served,” framing the strikes as a retaliatory action.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military confirmed missile attacks on three locations within its territory and vowed to respond.

Reuters, citing police sources, reported heavy shelling and powerful explosions across two border areas in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Local sources say at least 18 blasts were heard, with reports suggesting that Indian forces targeted multiple areas, including Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalpindi using ballistic missiles.

Clashes are reportedly intensifying along the Line of Control (LoC), with the city of Muzaffarabad placed under lockdown as dozens of emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.

Pakistani media allege that Indian missiles struck several locations in Azad Kashmir, although no confirmed reports of military action in Bahawalpur have emerged.

Notably, Bahawalpur has previously been linked to militant groups, making it a potential strategic target.

The current escalation follows Pakistan’s earlier claim on April 29 that it had intelligence of a possible Indian offensive, which had not materialized until now.
