The Indian State of Andhra Pradesh’s Technical Development Department has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dubai Internet City on technical collaboration, reported Gulf News on Tuesday.

The agreement was part of three accords with the Dubai government. On Sunday evening a pact was signed with Dubai Customs on IT training. The third, on collaboration in tourism, was expected to be signed Tuesday, according to the paper.

The Indian state’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told the paper that “authorities are now intent on using IT as a strategic tool for development. Several e-government initiatives are underway to present a unified portal to deliver the entire range of services,” urging investors to benefit from the opportunities available.

Dubai Internet City serves as a business hub for New Economy enterprises. It defines its mission as “to create the infrastructure, environment and attitude that will enable New Economy enterprises to operate locally, regionally and globally out of Dubai with significant competitive advantages.” It is also the world's first free trade zone for IT, e-business and media companies, according to its web page – Albawba.com
