Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who saved thousands of Jews during World War II, has been rehabilitated by Russia, the prosecutor general's office said on Friday, cited by Interfax.
Russian military prosecutors have ruled that Wallenberg, a diplomat in Budapest during the war, had been the victim of political repression by the Soviet authorities, the news agency added.
Wallenberg was seized by Soviet agents at the war's end. A Russian investigating body acknowledged last month for the first time in over half a century that he had been executed by Stalin's secret police in 1947, aged 34 -- MOSCOW (AFP)
