ALBAWABA - Following the devastating flood, 38 aid aircraft from 17 different countries have now reached Libya.
In a statement released by the "Emergency and Rapid Response" team associated with the government on the platform known as "Our Government," it was announced that aid planes have arrived from 17 countries.
Additionally, it was noted that in the coming hours, five ships, including one equipped with helicopters, will reach Libya, with one ship expected to arrive from Italy.
While the statement did not provide specific details about the countries contributing aid, it did mention that a ship from Turkey is also en route and is anticipated to reach Tobruk Port in the eastern part of Libya today.
This initiative follows the earlier arrival of two aid ships sent from Turkey, the TCG Sancaktar and TCG Bayraktar, which have already reached Libya.

The Ministry of National Defense had previously reported that these ships were carrying a total of 360 personnel, including members of organizations such as AFAD, AKUT, the Ministry of Health, Coast Guard, and firefighting teams. The personnel and ships were dispatched from Izmir to provide support to the Libyan people affected by the devastating flood.
The statement also highlighted the shipment of 122 vehicles, comprising ambulances, truck rescue units, and intervention vehicles, in addition to the deployment of duty personnel. Furthermore, it emphasized the provision of three field hospitals and various essential supplies for the affected regions.

The flood disaster in Libya, caused by the "Daniel" storm that struck the eastern part of the country on September 10, has led to severe flooding in multiple cities, including Benghazi, Bayda, Mersa, Sousse, and Derna.
In response to this catastrophe, Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe of the National Unity Government declared a three-day period of mourning throughout Libya starting on September 11. The Libyan Presidential Council also issued an appeal for assistance from sister nations and international organizations to aid the regions affected by the flood disaster.
The eastern regions of Libya have experienced a level of rainfall that is reportedly the highest in the past 40 years, exacerbating the scale of the disaster.
