Iran’s Fisheries Exports Up 165 Percent in 8 Months

Exports of Fisheries in Iran jumped 165.1 percent, toping $25.22 million during the period of March till August this year, compared to same period in the previous year, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA). 

The agency cited a report by the Exports Promotion Center of Iran as saying that 11.9 tons of caviar, 440.9 tons of assortments of shrimp and 78.8 tons of fresh and frozen fish were exported in the period.  

It also said that exports of caviar with 194 percent, shrimp with  

85.9 percent and fresh and frozen fish with 81.7 percent registered the highest rates of increase, respectively in the period. 

Meanwhile, Iran exported some 70 tons of caviar last year, said managing director of the country's fisheries company Mohammad Reza 

Hosseini,. 

The exports earning stood at 100 million marks, he said, adding that 80 percent of the product went to Europe, 10 percent to Japan and the rest to other countries.  

The country's total sturgeon catch in the period reached 800 tons, which produced 90 tons of caviar, Hosseini said – Albawaba.com
