The TU-154 plane crash on Friday killed 28 people and injured 43, said a reliable source in Iran on Friday. "The TU plane crash in Mashhad Airport left 28 people killed and 3 others injured," said deputy head of Iran's Red Crescent Society for Rescue Operations Ali-Reza Parand in an interview with IRNA on Friday.

Parand said 77 of the passengers also survived the incident.

The Russian-made Tupolev, on an internal flight from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, suffered a tyre burst on landing and swerved off the runway before hitting nearby barriers and bursting into flames. There were 148 passengers and crew on board the flight.
