Iran's judiciary announced on Tuesday that 4,000 people were initially detained by security forces following June 12 presidential election. "In the aftermath of the election, 4,000 people were arrested," judiciary spokesman Ali Reza Jamshidi was quoted as saying by AFP.
According to him, 3,700 were freed "very soon". However, he aded that "those who were involved in the riots were detained."
Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker warned about foreign schemes following the election. “I have already warned about this point several times that I see the trace of foreign sedition in the country and it has been witnessed a few months before election,” Ali Larijani said Monday, according to ISNA.
