Both the Iranian and Kuwaiti government got closer to finalize Iran-Kuwait Water Transmission Project.
Mohammad-Reza Bitaraf, the Iranian minister of energy, was quoted by Iran News as saying at a press conference that "the export of Iran's surplus water to Kuwait (Iran-Kuwait Water Transmission Project) is among the government's and this ministry's long-term goals and programs. For this purpose, a consortium consisting of several companies from Iran, Kuwait as well as a European country has been formed.
Bitaraf declared that a number of proposals have been submitted, but nothing has been finalized yet. In addition to denying certain newspaper stories in this regard, Bitaraf added, "as soon as agreements are finalized, and the relevant permits are issued, we shall make an appropriate public announcement."
He estimated that Iran could benefit from revenues of approximately $75 million annually, from water exports to Kuwait, the agency said.
The energy minister further added, "during the auspicious (10-Day Dawn) period, 1185 different energy projects will be completed at an estimated cost of 2,770 billion rials."
He said that during the first 10 months of the current year, 92365 (kwh) Hours of electricity had been produced. This figure indicates a growth of 7.12 percent over a similar period last year, and predicted that electrical energy production in 1379 (ending March 20) would be 8 percent higher than the previous year -- Albawaba.com
