Iran has fully equipped a Falcon jet to serve as the country's first airborne ambulance, a physician affiliated with the Iranian Aviation Organization said Saturday.

The plane is equipped with most up-to-date emergency medical equipment and is ready to carry patients from remote areas of the country to the nearest or farthest cities, which have specialized hospitals that can assist the patient, Mohammad Shafi'ie, a physician affiliated to the organization, told the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.

Among the medical equipment installed in the plane are CCU and ICU devices, including the units needed for patients with cardiovascular or lung problems.

Further elaborating on the method of taking advantage of the airborne ambulance, Shafi'ie said it would be enough to contact a travel agency and ask for the service, and then the patient would be inside the plane within two hours, no matter where the origin of the cry for help.

A physician and a team of nurses will accompany the patients, added Shafi'ie, who did not say how much the new service would cost – Albawaba.com
