Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated in a newspaper interview that he wants a three to six-month timetable to finalize a nuclear deal with world powers, according to Al-Jazeera sources.
In an interview with the Washington Post in New York, Rouhani told reporters that he has the backing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei to finalize nuclear-related discussions in the upcoming "months not years." The Iranian President stated that the settlement of the nuclear fille was one of his main responsibilities as the head of the government, and "the shorter [the talks], the more beneficial it is to everyone."
Iranian Foreign Minister Jayad Zarif will serve as the lead nuclear negotiator for the talks scheduled to take place in Geneva in October. Western powers and Israel have accused Iran of developing nuclear weapons and have imposed sanctions on the Persian country accordingly.
