Two Iranian and Spanish companies are to build nine fishing vessels worth 130 million dollars, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).

Manager of Spain's Freire Shipbuilding Company, Luis Barreras told IRNA that his company and Iran's Sadra Shipbuilding Company would undertake the implementation of the project.

Barreras said the Commercial Section of Spanish BBVA Bank has played a leading role in this respect and would sponsor the contract.

He said the trawlers would be built in Iran and Spain and would operate as part of Iran's fleet of fishing vessels, according to the agency.

He added that the first trawler is expected to be built in about 22 months.

Last month, both countries signed an agreement to manufacture petrochemical products. The cost of the project is estimated at 200 million dollars -- Albawaba.com
