Iran and Syria have been reported that they have entered a new phase of cooperation.

Iranian officials were quoted by the Middle East Newsline (MENL) as saying that “the new phase includes the prospect of both civilian and military cooperation.”

They said the cooperation would include bolstering Syria and the Hizbullah militia in any confrontation with Israel, MENL added.

President Mohammad Khatami has confirmed the reports of plans to improve cooperation between Damascus and Tehran, telling Syria's new envoy to Tehran, Turki Mohammed Saqr, that the two countries “will promote relations in all fields,” according to the report – Albawaba.com
