Foreign ministers of the Group of Eight countries issued a statement on Thursday, calling on Iran to respond "in the nearest future" to an international proposal on its nuclear program, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Speaking to reporters, Lavrov said the foreign ministers of the Group of Eight countries decided to evaluate Iran's nuclear activities by mid July. "Today we've discussed this topic," he was quoted as saying.
In his words, "We'll assess the situation on the basis of the results of the meeting. We did not discuss anything, which goes beyond the countries' proposals. We hope for a positive response."
Foreign ministers from Russia, US, Canada, Japan, Italy, Britain, France and Germany along with Austrian foreign minister as EU representative attended the Thursday's meeting in Moscow.
