Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammed Ali Subhani affirmed during a visit to the village of Shabaa on Friday that Iran will support the resistance until the liberation of the nearby Shabaa Farms.
“All Arab and Islamic countries must back Lebanon’s cause and exert more pressure on Israel,” Subhani was quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “We believe it’s natural for Lebanon to continue its resistance until the Shabaa Farms are liberated.”
He accused countries that support Israel “of trying to exert pressure on the Lebanese people and government to force them to waive their legitimate rights.”
“However, we believe Lebanon is determined to continue its fight,” he added.
The Iranian ambassador pledged that Iran would support the liberated area “as much as it can,” and added as well that Israel’s aggression during the 20 years of its occupation would not be erased through “limited contributions.”
He called on the Lebanese government and donor countries to cooperate in effectively reviving such areas.
The farms are still held by Israel and demanded by Lebanon. The UN says that Israel has completely implemented Resolution 425 which called for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied zone, while Israel claims that Shabaa farms are subject to negotiations with Syria from which it was occupied in 1967.
Syria says that the mountainous area was given to Lebanon, which has the right to claim it – Albawaba.com
