Iran will donate $1,300,000 to the Jerusalem Fund (Bayt Mal Al-Quds) $1.3 Mln to support the Palestinian people, the fund’s director general Wajih Hassan Kacem (Abu Marwan) told reporters in Teheran.

The sum will go to housing projects and the construction of a dental medicine college in the occupied city, said after a one-week visit in Iran, the Palestinian news agency reported.

Abu Marwan added that Iranian authorities are also considering a number of other projects, including the possibility of building a dental prosthesis lab. Iranian officials also promised to pay for the construction of a health center in Jerusalem, and for three buses for specialized schools.

Concerning the contributions of Islamic countries, the Palestinian diplomat said Morocco had already granted $7 million (of which $4 million was from the Moroccan government and $3 million from private Moroccan citizens), Egypt had sent $2.5 million, and Saudi Arabia $2 million. Other Muslim countries had donated US $30,000 to 100,000.

During his stay in Iran, Abu Marwan met top officials, including the vice prime minister, a representative of the Iranian Revolution leader, the secretary general of the international conference for the Palestinian Intifada Support, and the president of the Palestinian-Iranian Friendship Committee.

He added that the agency has submitted US$ 25 million projects in the housing, health, education and refurbishment projects.

The Jerusalem Fund is an agency of Al Quds committee, chaired by H.M King Mohammed VI. Its objective is to thwart Israeli occupation government attempts to obliterate the Arab and Islamic features of the city, occupied by Israel in 1967.
