Iran's police is not authorized to arrest young unmarried couples seen in the streets anymore, the government-run Iran newspaper reported on Saturday.
"The police forces are not allowed to stop and question young boys and girls seen together in the streets, as in the past, unless there is a private complaint filed against them", a Tehran judge was quoted as saying by the daily.
"Police stations have been ordered to immediately free those detainees and officers who do not observe this law will be seriously reacted", the judge told the paper.
Instead, police officials will have to focus their efforts on dismantling brothels and cracking down on the black-market trade in alcohol, as well as the pirating of CDs, the paper explained. (Albawaba.com)
