A few young Iranian girls attempted to commit suicide after unknowingly being filmed dancing during a private party and discovering footage of their moves was being subsequently sold for titillation.
According to Jomhuri-e-Eslami daily, in its Wednesday edition, "the girls were invited to a friend's private birthday party where they were filmed without their permission."
The girls, from Mahabad, then found out that the film of them dancing - a practice, which is banned in public and also outlawed between the sexes even in private in Iran - was on sale under the counter of several video vendors.
According to the report, copies of the film had been distributed in several western Iranian cities. However, the report did not provide details on how many girls tried to kill themselves. (Albawaba.com)
