In Iran, the Judiciary will take legal action against those lobbying for talks with the United States, Prosecutor General Ayatollah Abdolali Namazi said on Monday.
Elaborating on the legal bases of the ban, Ayatollah Namazi said that the Supreme Leader has already banned any negotiations with the US and gave a directive to the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) to that effect.
He said that according to Article 110 of the Constitution, the Supreme Leader is empowered to declare the general policy of the state, IRNA reported.
In the meantime, Association of Instructors of the Theological Center in the holy city of Qom held a rally on Monday to express support for the guidelines of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei banning any talks with the United States.
"The United States should know that the Iranian nation will never forget the crimes the US-backed regime of deposed shah perpetrated against Iranians," the resolution said.
Iran will not hold talks with the United States as long as the latter doesn't change its anti-Iran posture and end its irresponsible statements against the Islamic Republic, the high-ranking clerics conveyed. (Albawaba.com)
