ALBAWABA - Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Manama were all hit by multiple explosions on Saturday, the same day that Iran said it would target U.S. military posts in the region because of rising tensions.

Reuters says that people in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and cities nearby heard a loud explosion. AFP said there were explosions in Riyadh, which is the city of Saudi Arabia.

The United Arab Emirates said that some Iranian rockets were blocked by their air defenses. In Bahrain, similar events happened. There were blasts and air raid sirens went off all over the country.

The Interior Ministry of Bahrain told its citizens and residents to get cover right away and go to the closest safe place. Visuals circulating online showed a missile impact in the capital, Manama. Reuters said that smoke was coming from the Juffair district, which is home to a big U.S. naval base.

After the fact, Bahrain's main news source said that a missile had hit the support services center of the U.S. Fifth Fleet.

The Ministry of Defense in Qatar said that its air defenses had stopped several attacks that were aimed at Qatari land. The Interior Ministry of Qatar asked people to stay inside and not move around unless they had to.

As a safety move, Kuwait, the UAE, and Qatar said they would temporarily close their airspace.

These events have made things a lot worse in the region, with Iran saying out loud that U.S. military bases were among its targets.
