ALBAWABA - Iranian hardline lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian attacked U.S. President Donald Trump after his announcement to send another U.S. aircraft carrier to the region.

In a post on his X-platform account, Nabavian wrote, "Trump ordered the deployment of the second carrier to intimidate the Iranian people," adding sarcastically, "I suggest Trump personally accompany this carrier so he can sink with it in the sea like Pharaoh, by the missiles of the Iranian people."

The Iranian MP asserted in his post that the arrival of U.S. naval vessels in the region makes them "an easier target for Iranian forces. We thank God for that," he said.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced the deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, to the Middle East region, joining the USS Abraham Lincoln and a number of guided-missile destroyers, fighter jets, and reconnaissance aircraft.

In addition, Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, revealed Tuesday that Trump would not succeed in destroying the regime in Iran, as talks between the two countries began in Geneva.

"In one of his recent speeches, the US president said that for 47 years America has not succeeded in destroying the Islamic republic... I tell you: you will not succeed either," said Khamenei in a speech.
