Iranian President Mohammed Khatami will travel to Malaysia soon on a state visit, Malaysian Foreign Minister Hamid Albar was quoted as saing Wednesday.
Albar, who visited the president late Tuesday in the eastern Iranian city of Mashhad, told Iran's official IRNA news agency that Malaysia was awaiting Khatami's visit "with great enthusiasm."
"Political and diplomatic relations between the two countries are very good, and we now must develop commercial exchanges," Albar said.
The date of Khatami's trip was not stated.
Albar is on an official visit to Iran, and is to meet with Industry Minister Gholam Reza Shafei.
During his meeting with Khatami, the two discussed the cultural and religious ties between Iran and Malaysia, IRNA said - TEHRAN (AFP)
