Iranian Princess Ashraf Pahlavi, twin sister of the country's deposed shah, has died at the age of 96, Associated Press reported.
Reza Pahlavi, son of the late Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, announced her death on Facebook Thursday night. No details about the cause of death were given.
Following the shah's overthrow in Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, Princess Ashraf lived in exile between Paris, New York, and Monte Carlo. The French press called her "La Panthere Noire," or the Black Panther. Princess Ashraf published a memoire and was outspoken following the overthrow, but in later years receded from public life.
