A large number of teachers gathered outside the Iranian parliament on Tuesday to protest the low salary.

They distributed letters addressed to the parliament calling for due attention to their life standard and earmark budget for the teachers to meet the inflation and the current cost of living, said the Iranian official news agency (IRNA).

The teachers said that they were dissatisfied with debates in the parliament on the budget plan for the next fiscal year making insufficient allocation to the teachers' pay.

Another letter addressed to the president complained that the government has not taken into account the inflation rate in allocating budget for the teachers' salaries.

They said that the current level of pay falls short of meeting the basic needs of their families. (Albawaba.com)
