ALBAWABA- Iran has significantly increased its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium in recent months, according to a confidential report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) seen by AFP on Thursday.
Despite this development, the IAEA has reported that Iran has not improved its cooperation, even though the IAEA Board of Directors previously issued a decision urging better compliance.
The IAEA's latest quarterly report estimates that Iran now possesses 164.7 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60%, an increase of 22.6 kilograms since May.
Additionally, Iran’s total enriched uranium stockpile, as of August 17, stands at 5,751.8 kilograms, showing a slight decrease from previous figures. However, the agency remains concerned about unexplained traces of uranium found at undeclared sites in Iran.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has expressed a desire to visit Iran soon for "constructive dialogue" with the country’s new leadership.
