Al Qaeda in Iraq stated on Thursday it had decided to kill two Moroccan embassy employees it abducted last month, according to an Internet posting.
"The legislative authority of al Qaeda organisation in Iraq has decided to carry God's law against the infidels and has ruled to execute them," the group declared.
"After the court looked into the detainees' case, it was proven, without any doubt, that they are followers of the despots (U.S.) and infidel Moroccan government," the group said.
Meanwhile, a US soldier was killed "when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Ramadi," the military said Thursday.
In Balad, 50 miles north of Baghdad, an American soldier was mortally injured when his patrol came under fire Wednesday, the military said, according to the AP. One gunman died when the US patrol returned fire and another was killed when a U.S. Air Force jet blasted the building where he had taken refuge, the military added.
Another American soldier from the Army's Task Force Baghdad was killed by a roadside bomb Wednesday in a southern district of the capital, the military confirmed. All in all, six US troops were reported dead on Wednesday.
