The destruction of the Zeyzoun Dam caused immense destruction of many villages and residential compounds throughout Syria.

In wake of the “brotherly ties” and “joint Arab destiny” between Damascus and the Iraqi people, President Saddam Hussein ordered the allocation of ten million Euros from Iraqi crude oil revenues to rebuild residential compounds for families who lost their homes due to the collapsed dam, INA reported.
