A car bomb in a Shia suburb of Baghdad killed four people and wounded 12 others on Wednesday morning, AFP reports.
According to the news agency, two police officers said the parked car bomb exploded in the Shia-dominated district of Hussainya, east of Baghdad, on Wednesday morning, killing four civilians.
The officers, speaking on condition of anonymity, added that four policeman at a nearby checkpoint were among the 12 wounded in the attack.
A medical official reportedly confirmed the casualty figures.
Iraq has seen a spike in violence since April 23, when security forces tried to make arrests at a Sunni Muslim protest camp in the northern city of Hawija.
