Daesh has executed ten doctors south of Iraq’s violence-scarred northern city of Mosul, as they continue to wreak havoc in the areas under their control.

A local source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Daesh members executed the victims in Hammam al-Alil area, located some 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) south of Mosul, on Wednesday after the men refused to treat the wounded Daesh militants, Iraq’s al-Sumaria satellite TV network reported.

Local official Mowaffaq Hamid al-Azawi has described Mosul as a big open-air prison, where residents are subjected to various kinds of torture and are suffering at the hands of Daesh. He added that some scholars in the city even distort religious principles to serve Daesh's interests.

Meanwhile, Daesh has executed more than 60 members of al-Karableh, Albu Ubaid, Albu Mahal and Albu Salman tribes in the western sector of al-Anbar Province, on the alleged ground that they were in collaboration with Iraqi security forces.

Farhan Mohammed, a member of Anbar Provincial Council, said Daesh has also kidnapped tens of civilians in the area, adding that the fate and whereabouts of the abductees remain unknown.

Daesh started its campaign of terror in Iraq in early June 2014. The heavily-armed militants took control of Mosul before sweeping through parts of the country’s Sunni Arab heartland.
