Iraq’s deputy prime minister has escaped an assassination attempt in Baghdad according to a lawmaker on Friday.
Talal al-Zobaie claims he was with Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq when militants dressed as soldiers opened fire at their convoy traveling through the Abu Graib area, AP reports.
Al-Zobaie says the disguised militants battled with the deputy prime minister’s guards before fleeing the area, while three of the security personal were wounded.
Parliamentary elections will take place in the country on April 30, while violence continues.
