Donald Rumsfeld, the secretary of state in both the Ford and Bush administrations, has died at the age of 88.
Rumsfeld, who was instrumental in the U.S. invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, implemented policies that led to the deaths of up to a million Iraqis and approximately 46,500 Afghans. Millions more have suffered from the destruction wrought by the U.S. invasions following 11 September 2001.
